Krystle is a member of the International Youth Leadership Council. My name is Krystle and I'm an undergraduate at Georgetown University. I am majoring in International Politics with a focus on trans-state actors. A lot of the issues I've been focused on during my academic career have been geared towards international HIV/AIDS and family planning. For the past three years, as a part of the IYLC, I've been a part of lobbying initiatives surrounding PEPFAR and the HIV travel ban. I've been a part of initiatives on campus that would draw student groups together, particularly cultural groups, on HIV/AIDS issues and gender inequities. The main component of my advocacy work during my undergraduate career has been campus organizing, particularly around the involvement and networking of social justice organizations, political clubs, and cultural groups on campus. I've also been involved with research initiatives on campus that seek to highlight the growing problem of HIV/AIDS in East and Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia and China. On an international level, I've engaged in dialogue with political and religious leaders in the Philippines about the age of sexual consent for young girls (the Philippines does not have a set age) and their current stance on promoting family planning and contraceptives in the country.
